Background: Emilie Henry is an accomplished advancement leader with nearly 25 years of experience spanning social service and environmental nonprofits and, for the past 15 years, independent schools. She currently serves as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, where she leads the School’s development and strategic communications operations.

At Westminster, Emilie has built an integrated, high-performing advancement operation, bringing development and communications together around a shared strategy while strengthening the systems, processes, and talent that support the School’s institutional priorities. Most recently, she led the successful completion of a comprehensive campaign that raised more than $160 million against an original $120 million goal. Her leadership encompasses fundraising strategy, principal and major gifts, campaign planning, donor engagement and stewardship, communications, leadership development, and talent management. Over the course of her career, Emilie has helped lead fundraising efforts totaling more than $350 million. Under her leadership, Westminster’s advancement team has also earned multiple CASE Circle of Excellence Awards recognizing outstanding work in both fundraising and communications.

Prior to joining Westminster, Emilie served as Director of Advancement at Trinity School in Atlanta and as Director of Development for Yellowstone National Park. A longtime leader within the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Emilie is a CASE Laureate, one of the organization’s distinguished honors recognizing exceptional service and leadership in the advancement profession. She is also a recipient of the CASE Crystal Apple Award for excellence in teaching and has served as Chair of the CASE U.S./Canada Council and Chair of CASE’s Independent Schools Leadership Group, a network of leading independent school chief advancement officers. She also served for six years on the faculty of CASE’s Summer Institute for Independent Schools.

Emilie is particularly passionate about building strong advancement teams, developing talent, and helping institutions create cultures in which philanthropy can thrive. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, practicing yoga, and cycling to nowhere on her Peloton.
